The Most Popular Nail Biting Treatments
There are several different nail biting treatments on the market that are designed to help you consciously change your habit, even if it is one that happens on a subconscious level. You can use the products alone, or you can use them along with a more unconventional treatment, such as therapy or hypnosis.
Conventional Treatments
The most conventional treatment is to apply something to the tips of your fingernails, so that you will notice that you are beginning to bite your nails. These products typically contain natural or harmless ingredients, so that almost anyone can use them to cure nail biting. The most common ingredient used is cayenne pepper, which can be quite hot.
Other treatments include therapy for stress, stress management classes, and using a negative reinforcement technique to rid yourself of the behavior. Some of these treatments, such as stress management, may or may not work, depending on the reasons that you resort to nail biting. If you are unconsciously biting your nails, for example, you may not realize what you are doing until it is too late.
